It seems like it.

If you're into startups, or you just want to work somewhere you actually own something from day one instead of doing slides in a corporate internship, Munich has one of the most technical, highest-conviction startup ecosystems in Europe right now.

Robotics, counter-drone defense, AI logistics, lab automation, radiology AI. There's a whole wave of deep-tech startups growing fast here, and not just the big names. A lot of smaller pre-seed and seed teams are actively hiring interns and new grads. One of them just closed the largest seed round in German history, $55M, founded by ex-Formula 1 engineers, less than a year old.

If you're a student, a recent grad, or someone tired of being employee #4000 somewhere, this is your sign.

Here's what's actually happening in Munich right now, company by company.

Robotics & Industrial AI

microagi — Founded by two former Formula 1 engineers (from Red Bull Racing and Mercedes-AMG Petronas), microagi records factory workers on the job using cameras and sensor gloves, then uses that footage to train robots for real-world manufacturing tasks. Raised $55M in Germany's largest-ever seed round, less than a year after founding.

Alpine Eagle — Builds Sentinel, the world's first air-to-air counter-drone system, using AI and radar to detect, classify, and intercept hostile drones. Tested in Ukraine and alongside US and UK forces, and has grown from 12 to 50 employees in the past year while raising €10.25M.

Pruna AI — Makes AI models faster, smaller, and cheaper to run through advanced compression, cutting the massive energy footprint of deploying deep learning at scale. Raised a €6.2M seed round led by EQT Ventures.

Logistics & Freight

5U AI — Built by two TU Munich graduates, 5U AI gives freight forwarders "digital workers" that handle quoting, booking, shipment tracking, and invoice reconciliation across air, sea, and road transport, while recording the reasoning behind every decision. Raised a €2.7M pre-seed round backed by former DHL, Maersk, and DSV executives.

Mily Technologies — A delivery analytics platform combining location intelligence with business analytics to help parcel and postal operators cut last-mile costs and plan smarter delivery networks. Trusted by DHL, Poste Italiane, and CTT, and raised €1M pre-seed led by South Central Ventures.

Sales & Enterprise AI

Venta AI — Builds AI sales employees purpose-built for the German market, finding qualified leads and reaching them through fully GDPR-compliant channels including LinkedIn, phone, and post. Backed by Y Combinator and Google's Gradient fund, it's already helped customers book 500+ real deals in 2025.

Finto — AI agents that autonomously handle enterprise accounting tasks like invoice verification and purchase-order matching, integrated directly with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and DATEV. Backed by Y Combinator and Lightspeed, founded by former leaders from Tacto and TradeLink.

Pactos — An AI platform that digitizes how companies manage external and contingent workers across the DACH region, automating contract reviews and compliance in a market still mostly run on spreadsheets. Raised €2.7M pre-seed led by High-Tech Gründerfonds.

Lemonflow — A voice-based AI agent that handles customer support for EV charging infrastructure operators, speaking 30+ languages and cutting the operational cost of running a charging network. Founded by two former McKinsey mobility consultants.

Lab Automation & Healthtech

UniteLabs — Building the first open operating system for AI-driven lab automation, connecting laboratory devices from any manufacturer into one cloud platform so biotech teams stop losing time to proprietary hardware interfaces. Winner of the Munich Startup Award 2025.

Floy GmbH — AI software that gives radiologists a "second look" on complex scans to catch diseases earlier, deployed across 100+ radiology practices in Germany. Has raised €3.4M since its 2021 founding.

Traindoo.io — A digital care platform for physiotherapists and personal trainers, letting them run remote sessions supported by AI that adjusts treatment plans based on patient progress. Spun out of a TU Munich research project, now used by 1,500+ active users.

Climate, Energy & Construction

Omnisent — Building acoustic AI hardware and a "Large Acoustic Model" that listens to industrial machinery and infrastructure to catch problems like compressed air leaks, which alone waste over 1% of global electricity. Raised an oversubscribed $3M pre-seed led by Atlantic Labs.

Emidat — AI software helping building material manufacturers automatically generate and verify Environmental Product Declarations, cutting the time and cost of proving a product's carbon footprint by more than half. Raised €4M to keep building out its environmental database.

Invertix — Autonomous AI agents that run operations for solar, wind, and battery storage sites, handling fault diagnosis, compliance reporting, and maintenance coordination in place of traditional SCADA monitoring. Already manages 1.8GW of solar capacity despite launching only in early 2026, and just raised €1.7M pre-seed.
